Rawlings can’t be chief of peace, destool him – Henry Lartey to Volta chiefs

The flagbearer of the Great Consolidated Popular Party, Dr. Henry Lartey says there is too much blood on Mr. Rawlings’ hands to be installed as chief of peace.

Former President Jerry John Rawlings was on Saturday installed chief of Tadzewu in the Anlo Traditional Area of the Volta Region.

His stool name is Torgbui Nutifafaga I, meaning king of Peace for his lead role in fostering peace and stability in Ghana. But Henry Lartey told the media on Tuesday that the former president was undeserving to be made a chief.

He accused Mr. Rawlings of engineering the murder of “great people” like General Akwasi Afrifa and General Fred Akuffo among others. Dr. Lartey who has been engaging the former leader in a media war believes the Chiefs and Elders of the Anlo Traditional Area should reconsider what Rawlings did to great leaders of Ewes and destool him.

He claimed the only person who deserves the accolade king of peace is the late President John Evans Atta Mills. It is not clear, the cause of the feud between Dr. Lartey and former President Rawlings.

On the admission that the late Nigerian president, Sani Abacha gave him (Rawlings) $2 million gift, Dr. Lartey resurrected the hostility between the two. According to Dr Henry Lartey, the former president is tainted with corruption, suspecting that Mr. Rawlings had even been given more than he declared.
