A Deputy National Communications Officer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ernest Owusu-Bempah, has said that the late former president Jerry John Rawlings, before he passed on, told him that the Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, can never become the president of Ghana again.
In a video posted on X by Onua FM, Owusu-Bempah explained that he was invited by the former president one afternoon to have a conversation.
He said, “Former President Rawlings, two to three months before his death, told me that Mahama will never be president of this country. Rawlings, and I’m saying it. I can’t sit here and say what I don’t know about a dead person. Never, because he is my father.”
He further said “One afternoon, I was in Ghana Gas and he sent for me and I went. One afternoon; it was about 4:15. He asked me - he usually ask me what is going on in the country, the grassroots. He asked, do you believe Mahama will ever be the president of this country again? Due to what Mahama has done, his personality, and what Rawlings said behind the scenes which I cannot say here, He Rawlings didn’t believe that John Mahama can ever become president ever again in Ghana. I am telling you, I, Owusu-Bempah, everybody knows I was very close to the former president. It was between me and him.”
This statement was prompted by a prophesy made by Founder and Leader of Glorious Word Power Ministry International, Rev. Isaac Owusu-Bempah on October 1, 2024, during a meeting organised by the Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress, John Dramani Mahama.
During the meeting dubbed “Mahama Fellowships with Clergy,” Owusu-Bempah prophesied that God has entrusted the country in the hands of John Mahama because of his good heart.
He stated “When the prayer was going on, this is what the Lord has told me. Because of the good heart of this man, the Lord has entrusted the country in his hands again. Nothing can stop it.”
