Re: About 200 people defected from NDC to NPP

Our attention has been drawn to a false, calculated, and empty publication on Ghanaweb.com with regards to a purported defection of about 200 Ndc members of the Dabaoya/Mankarigu constituency to the Npp and we wish to state unequivocally that this publication has no iota of truth embedded in it and must be totally disregarded.

The Npp knowing that the Daboya/Mankarigu constituency is a strong hold of the ruling National Democratic Congress has resolved to this diversional tactics since they have nothing to point to in their abysmal 8 years in offIice.

The news item which was published today the 1st of February 2016, mentions one Mr Ansumah Awusi as the lead defector and we wish to state that the said Mr. Ansumah Awusi is not captured in our records as an Ndc member within the Daboya/Mankarigu constituency and as such could not have defected from a party he isn't a member of.

The publication also captured Daniel Bugri Naabu; the Northern Regional chairman of the New Patriotic Party stating among others that the neglect of the constituency by the ruling government of the National Democratic Congress, the lack of jobs, poor road network, inadequate access to portable drinking water and economic hardship within the constituency were reasons for the defection of the purported 200 people.

Setting the records straight:

1. The Daboya/Mankarigu constituency was carved out of the Damongo/Daboya constituency by the ruling Ndc government in order to position it well to efficiently exploit the potential of the area whilst benefiting from the national cake. This in it self is enough to suggest that the Ndc government has the good people of the area at heart and ready to ensure that development came to their doorsteps contrary to Bugri Naabu's stance of neglect of the area by the Ndc government.

2. During the 8 years rule of the Npp government, the area never received a single developmental initiative/project not even the famous HIPC toilets. But just 3 years after its creation by the ruling Ndc government, the Daboya/Mankarigu constituency can boast of a Senior High school (Wasipe SHS), the Tachali Bridge, the Busunu/Daboya high way, over 10 CHPS compounds, over 25 basic schools under construction, the award of the 64 km Daboya/Mankarigu stretch of road, the Daboya small town water project, the rehabilitation and drilling of boreholes, the GSOP project which alone employs an estimated 200 people per project, and the construction of the Daboya-Ayanto road.

3. Under the Ndc government, the constituency which had less than 20 trained teachers can now boast of 219 trained teachers and a considerable number of health workers all geared towards the development of human capital and the delivery of accessible health care.

4. The smock industry which remains the largest employing industry within the constituency and which never received any attention from the Npp government during its 8 years in office has been boosted with the construction of a weaving centre with ancillary facilities under the Ndc government. This kind gesture from the ruling Ndc government to the good people of the Daboya/Mankarigu constituency is geared towards alleviating poverty and expanding the employment basket of the industry.

5. Electricity which is one of the driving engines of economic growth and accelerated development could not be accessed by the good people of this area and no single community in and around Mankarigu could boost of electricity during the 8 years tenure of the NPP but fortunately for the good people of the Daboya/Mankarigu constituency, 9 communities have been awarded on contract to be connected to the national grid. Also, Kagbal, Lingbinshi, and Tedrope have received their fair share of the rural electrification project under the Ndc government.

It is however unfortunate that Bugri Naabu an initiator and driver of ethnocentric politics within the Northern Region has chosen the Daboya/Mankarigu constituency as his next point of call after holding secret meetings in the Bole/Bamboi, Yapei/Kausugu, and Damongo constituencies all in his bid to create disaffection between Gonjaland and the NDC which has served as our pride all these years of our democratic dispensation as a nation.

On this note we strongly caution Bugri Naabu and his likes and that we will meet them with equal measure in their dubious attempt to discredit the great works of the Mahama led NDC government.

We are counting the little blessings bestowed on us by His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama and the NDC government and we dare the NPP to proof the true membership of the purported 200 people.

The publication on Ghanaweb.com is ill-intentioned, logically empty and a classical example of a dying man clutching to a straw and Ndc Daboya/Mankarigu employs everyone to discredit it and treat it with all the contempt it deserves.

Thank you.

Long live Daboya/Mankarigu constituency

Long live President Mahama and the ruling Ndc government Long Live Ghana

Signed.
