The First Lady, Rebecca Akufo-Addo, has commissioned the redeveloped Independence Avenue Cluster of Schools in the Ashiedu-Keteke Sub-Metropolitan District in Accra.

The newly refurbished educational facility which includes an eight-unit, three-storey classroom block and a three-unit nursery block was commissioned on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, assaseradio.com reports.

The facility is fully equipped with modern amenities such as science and computer laboratories, libraries, a staff common room, offices, a horticultural garden, and a playground for students.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Rebecca Akufo-Addo highlighted the need to prioritise the educational needs of children who will become the future generation.

Reiterating the government’s commitment to fostering educational development in the country, Rebecca stated that the redeveloped facility would help provide quality education and training for children.

The First Lady, however, urged the management to ensure a culture of maintenance and to see to it that the facilities are utilised for quality education.

Finally, she advised the students to be disciplined in their endeavours while striving for success.

The event was attended by dignitaries including the Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II; the governor of the Bank of Ghana, Ernest Addison; a cross-section of chiefs from the Ga Mashie area, executives of the Old Students Association, clergy, and Assembly Members, among others.

On his part, the Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, expressed his gratitude to the stakeholders for the project.

He reiterated Rebecca Akufo-Addo’s call for a culture of maintenance to ensure the longevity of the facility and to support the development of education in the municipality.
