An aspiring presidential candidate who wants to represent the People’s National Convention (PNC) Rev, Adjei Debrah has bemoaned the acts of violence recorded at some registration centres in the ongoing voter registration exercise.

The former campaign director for the PNC in the 2016 general polls told Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm that these violent acts are a threat to our democracy hence political parties must call their supporters to order.

The man of God said the registration centres are not boxing arenas for people to be fighting there.

Rev. Debrah in his view described the acts as reckless and lawless.

He wants all political parties to pledge to ensure the exercise is organised without any more acts of violence.

”The voter registration exercise is not a political exercise. It is a national exercise and every Ghanaian eligible is entitled to register. We should not politicise this exercise. We have to behave when we get to the registration centres. We do not have to fight or create violent scenes,” he stated.

The outbreak of the coronavirus he also said makes it dangerous for people to be engaging in acts that will compromise the safety protocols especially the social distancing rules.

He advised young people not to allow themselves to be used and manipulated by politicians to engage in violence.

He asked them to tell any politician who will ask them to join any violent act to first recruit their wives and children before coming to them for help.
