Mampong (Ash), Oct 2, GNA - Daasebre Osei-Bonsu II, the Omanhene of Asante-Mampong Traditional Area, has urged heads of departments and institutions in the Sekyere West Municipality to remain politically neutral in the performance of their duties. Allowing partisan politics to influence their actions and judgment, he said, could retard the growth and development of the area. The Omanhene made the call at a meeting with the heads to brainstorm on ways to speed up the pace of socio-economic progress of the Municipality at Asante-Mampong. He counselled them to avoid giving preferential treatment to any particular political party group and to also stay away from corrupt and immoral practices.

Rather, they should be more dedicated to duty and hard working. Daasebre Osei Bonsu advised them to maintain good working relations with the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for sanity to prevail in the assembly. He called for improved conditions of service and better accommodation facilities for workers at the Assembly to boost their morale and engender high productivity. The Member of Parliament, Thomas Addai-Nimoh, said expansion works on the Asante-Mampong Water Project to increase water flow to the people would soon begin because the fund for the project was ready. The project, which has an irrigation component, would be financed with a 23-million dollar credit facility from the US Exim Bank, he said. Mr. Addai-Nimoh gave the assurance that 11 kilometres stretch of roads in Asante-Mampong were going to be upgraded. Mr. Daniel Ohyeamang, the MCE, announced that all unauthorized structures in the Municipality would be pulled down. The Assembly is in the process of setting up a new revenue task force to help improve on its internally generated revenue performance.
