All is set for a change in personnel as far as the leadership of the ruling New Patriotic Party in the August House of Parliament is concerned, Newsmangh.com has learnt.

This move has been necessitated by the appointment of the Deputy Majority Leader and Member of Parliament for Dome Kwabenya as the Minister of State Designate in-charge of Procurement.

This elevation has created a gapping hole at the front line of the Majority side on the floor which needs to be filled as a matter of urgency.

Some Political pundits the newsman spoke to are of the school of thought that the position of deputy Majority leader must be replaced with a female to maintain the gender balance but were quick to state that aside the gender fact, regional balance must not be over looked.

To them, the Hon. Patricia Appiagyei stands in a pole position regarding the position of Deputy Majority leader if it should go to a female again but that makes two Ashanti’s on the front bench of the Majority – Leader and Deputy.

The quiet call for a Law Maker from the Central Region is also being made, giving the contribution of the Region to the electoral fortunes of the ruling Party in the just elections.

However, the position of a Deputy Majority is one that needs an articulate and focused politician as back up to the Leader at all times.

For many, giving the President’s vision for the country and his ambitious 2017 budget, deep thinking must be done to unearth competent and determined young but experienced people to ‘man’ up such important offices.

It is for these reasons, according to ‘deep throat sources’ close to he leadership of Majority in the House of Parliament, Hon. Alex Afenyo Markin MP – Effutu is being considered for the deputy Majority leader position.

With his background in International Politics, Security, Law and the experience in Parliamentary practice over the years, Hon. Markin stands is well positioned help President Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo succeed.

This news portal has also sighted an article in the Ghanaian Observer newspaper which alluded to a seeming battle between Hon. Afenyo Markin and Hon. Nana Akua Owusu Afriyie of Ablekuma North for deputy Majority leader position but all seems to be going for the Effutu MP because many of his colleagues on right side of the House are rooting for him.

For watchers of the political landscape, whoever sits in the front bench of the Majority is not really important neither is it of consequence if these people are females or males but what matters is a capable and competent person to help push the agenda, programs and policies of the Akufo-Addo administration.
