Atik Mohammed, General Secretary of People's National Convention (PNC), has called on former President John Agyekum Kufuor to intervene in the affairs of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

According to Atik Mohammed, there is what he terms as a "cold war" going on in the New Patriotic Party.

Speaking on Peace FM's Kokrokoo, Atik Mohammed was keen on the instrumental role that the NPP plays in the country's political climate.

He urged former President Kufour to ensure order in the party.

He noted that the cold war in the NPP comes in the form of "proxy wars" and therefore believed it is time for the former President and the NPP flagbearer Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo to join forces together at "resolving their differences..."

"...in the interest of saving his party and to reposition it well in such a stead that we can fight the fight," Atik Mohammed said, stressing that former President Kufuor can help build the NPP to be a strong force.

His comment came on the heels of an Accra High Court dismissal of a suit filed by the second National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sammy Crabbe challenging his suspension from the party.

The court dismissed the case on "unmeritorious" grounds.

Atik Mohammed advised members of the NPP to put the interest of the party above their parochial self-interests.
