The Young Executive of SDA, a vibrant youth wing of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, has issued a pressing ultimatum to the church leadership, demanding a swift response regarding the upcoming general elections scheduled for December 7, 2024.

The group is deeply concerned that the electoral process coincides with their sacred Sabbath Day, a day of worship and reverence, which they believe infringes on their fundamental religious rights.

Despite their fervent appeals to the Electoral Commission (EC) to reconsider the date, their pleas have fallen on deaf ears. The leadership’s silence on this matter has left the youth feeling neglected and uncertain about their participation in the electoral process.

The recent exhortation from President Akufo-Addo, urging the Adventist community to exercise their civic duty and vote, has further exacerbated the situation, as the youth seek guidance from their church leaders on whether to cast their ballots or uphold their religious convictions.

In an interview with Happyghana.com, the Chairman of the Young Executive of SDA, Mr. Isaac Baah, expressed his frustration and dismay at the leadership’s inaction. He emphasized that the group is giving the leadership a 72-hour window to respond and provide clear guidance on their stance regarding the elections. Failure to do so, he warned, would lead to peaceful street protests and demonstrations, as the youth will not stand idly by while their religious rights are disregarded.
