Saboba, May 5, GNA- The Member of Parliament for Saboba Constituency Mr Charles Binbipom Bintim, has been retained as the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for the December election. Mr Bintim, who also a Minister of State at the Presidency, has been the member of parliament for the past eight years in the area. He polled 39 votes out of the 56 votes cast at the Primaries held in Saboba to beat the other two contestants.
His challengers, Mr Abraham Jawol Binapadam polled 11 votes while Mr Emmanuel Kotin Mawanye had seven votes. The election was conducted and supervised by the Saboba District Electoral Officer, Mr Dery Dominic.
In all 56 delegates from 49 polling stations including eight executives of the party voted.
Mr Bintin thanked the delegates for nominating him for the third time, which indicates that the party in the constituency was united and urged the supporters to maintain the unity and peace existing there for them to retain the seat in 2008.
He assured them that with their support, the National Democratic Congress would never win the seat again. He noted that, the number of development projects springing up in the area shows the government's commitments to the area. He assured them that all on going project would be completed within the shortest possible time.
The Acting Regional Secretary of the party, Mr Faisal Gbandeli called on the people to look at the development projects going on in the constituency and cast their votes for the NPP in the December elections. Mr Faisal said the government is providing Ghanaians with Metro buses, the Health Insurance Scheme, the Capitation Grant and the School Feeding Programme, which no other government has ever provided. He called on the supporters to be together as one family and reminded them that the December 2008 elections is very crucial and that they should work hard to retain the NPP in power. Also present at the function were the representatives of the National Democratic Congress and the Democratic Freedom Party, who gave solidarity messages and called for peaceful elections in December 2008.
