Tension is brewing among the rank and file of ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Northern Region as party executives are calling for the dismissal of the Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) Officer for Tamale, Iddrisu Musah Superior with immediate effect or forget their votes.
Party Executives in the Tamale South and Central Constituencies are up in arms against the Metropolitan Chief Executive accusing him of running a parallel administration without recourse to the constituency executives under his jurisdiction.
They pontificated that Mr. Superior has exhibited gross disrespect for the executives and has not been a member of any of the constituencies under his jurisdiction.
According to them, his posturing is undermining the political authority of the region including the regional Minister and his Deputy.
‘’Ever since he expressed his desire to contest the NPP primaries for the Mion Constituency, his appetite for the development of his constituency is very glaring for any careful observer, to the detriment of the two constituencies under the Tamale Metropolitan area. He refused to honour an invitation by the regional executive committee to settle these matters amicably and called their bluff. Again, since he ignores everybody in this area, Mr. President, the Tamale Metropolitan area can no longer contain we the executives and the MCE’’ Said, the constituency secretary for Tamale South Constituency who read the statement on behalf of the aggrieved executives at a press conference attended by MynewsGh.com
According to the group, the Metropolitan Chief Executive at a recent meeting profusely apologised and was forgiven and admonished to go and sin no more, adding that his actions and inactions in recent times are far worse than before.
‘’Hence we have no other option than to call for his dismissal since that is the only language he can comprehend’’ he added.
They also accuse the MCE of throwing his weight about and claiming that he is only answerable to the president since he got his appointment from the presidency.
