Member of Parliament (MP) for Ningo-Prampram Constituency, Mr. Enoch Teye Mensah, popularly referred to as Ningo-Prampram ‘Methuselah,’ has stated that “Almighty God should have mercy on one his main contenders, Mr. Samuel George Nartey, for peddling lies about him that he has done little to provide both social and infrastructure amenities in the area.

The visibly infuriated MP for Ningo-Prampram, who could not hide his anger over the matter, hit hard at Sam George; saying: "Let him swim in his ignorance and naivety and further described him as “ungrateful and a dishonest person.”

“That boy knows how to run but does not know how to hide…and nobody should deceive him/herself because this boy referring to (Samuel George) cannot win Ningo-Prampram seat without my support.

…I say Almighty God should have mercy on him… Almighty God should have mercy on him…Almighty God should have mercy on him, Mr. Teye Mensah made these forgoing remarks in an interview with Joy FM in Accra yesterday.”

Continuing, Mr. Mensah, who has been the MP for Ningo-Prampram for the past 13 years, revealed: “I overhead that Samuel George was moving from house-to-house or even distributing on social media networks that I (E.T. Mensah) declared that I am not contesting the Ningo-Prampram seat again. Even this boy has still been doing this after I had filed my nomination document to contest the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Ningo-Prampram constituency parliamentary primaries.”

“…This boy should be careful about his unguarded comments against him because the hand that once fed you before or helped to raise you to where you are now and you should not turn around and bite that same hand,” he stressed.

The Ningo-Prampram legislator’s outbursts came to fore when he was responding to recent claims by Presidential Staffer, Samuel George, who has vowed to use the impending NDC parliamentary primary in Ningo-Prampram to uproot E.T Mensah, popularly referred to as Ningo-Prampram Methuselah from his seat and take over as the new MP for the area, come January 2017.

In that story, Mr. Nartey said the days of the former Accra mayor were long gone and that the earlier the Hon MP understands that the better.

The presidential staffer made the declaration soon after he submitted his nomination forms at the Ningo-Prampram NDC constituency party office yesterday, amidst tooting of horns of motor-bicycles and cars, and singing and dancing by a huge crowd, who ostensibly were his supporters.

Determined to uproot E.T. Mensah, who he worked with for over three years, the man, popularly known as Sam George, said he was optimistic that the people in the constituency will vote massively for him, which will obviously send one of the longest serving MPs in Ghana to political retirement.

“Hon E.T. Mensah has had his days in the sun; he has had his time in the spotlight, the people in Ningo-Prampram are grateful to him and, I lead the chorus to say, we are grateful to him for 20 long years of meritorious service and sacrifice, but the time has come for him to hang up his boots.

“You must know when to bow out; when the applause is loudest, his time has passed, there is a new kid on the block, there is someone whose sun has risen, his (E. T. Mensah’s) sun has set, it is my time, my people asked me to lead them, I have the mandate of my people and the voice of the people is the voice of God,” Sam George stated.

But in a quick rebuttal to Sam George’s claim, Mr. Mensah minced no words when he described Mr. George Sam as “power-drunk and naive person.”

Mr. Mensah, who is one of Ghana’s longest serving MPs, dismissed reports that he has decided not to contest in the upcoming National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary primaries.

According to him, he has not told anyone that he is not contesting.

“I am contesting the Ningo-Prampram seat. I have not spoken anywhere, I have not said that to anybody,” he told Richard Sky on Eyewitness News.
