Sammy Awuku steps up campaign in W/R

An aspiring National Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sammy Awuku, has emphasised that what the NPP needs now is a strategist who can formulate effective policies to help get majority of the youth to vote for the party in the 2016 general elections.

According to him, since elections in Ghana are won at the grassroots level, it would be prudent for the party to resource its youth very well to enable them to win floating voters who are mostly found at the grassroots.

He indicated that it was obvious that the youth of Ghana had lost hope in the President John Mamaha-led government of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and that it would be in the interest of the NPP to elect a vibrant person like himself to lead the youth of the party to clinch victory in 2016.

Mr. Awuku stated this when he met with the constituency and regional youth executives of the NPP in the Western Region to woo them to vote for him as the party’s national youth organizer at the NPP’s National Congress next year.

He commended the various youth executives in the region for standing solidly behind the party and working tirelessly, even without any remuneration, to ensure that the NPP comes to power in 2016.

He pledged that he would never disappoint the youth of the party when given the nod to lead them to capture political power in the next general elections.

“The current economic situation in the country, the hopelessness of the youth due to the NDC government’s dubious posture, the rising unemployment, social tension among the youth are indications that the youth of Ghana are fed up with the NDC,” he alleged.

He indicated that the fraudulent scheme allegedly designed by Mahama’s government to short-change the youth of this country to fabulously enrich themselves could not go without mention.

“Unfortunately, Mahama’s NDC government has managed to dupe the youth of this country under the guise of the Ghana Youth Employment and Entrepreneurial Development Agency (GYEEDA),” he alleged.

He continued, “Looking into the future under the NPP was promising for the youth of Ghana.”

To this end, Mr Awuku noted that the party needed someone who could easily win the support of the youth and further rekindle the hope for a better future.

Mr. Awuku called for the abolition of factionalism in the party prior to the national congress since it had the tendency to create deep cracks among NPP members and urged all aspirants to conduct their campaigns with decorum.

During an open forum, most of the regional and constituency youth executives described Mr. Awuku as an achiever, a motivator and an inspirational speaker than a mere politician.

Present at the meeting was Kwesi Bonzo, the 2012 parliamentary candidate for Ellembelle and Madam Abena Kwallah, the Regional NPP women’s organizer.
