Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, Allotey Jacobs has asked the Akufo-Addo administration to stop deceiving Ghanaians and send the Gitmo 2 detainees away from Ghana.
Speaking on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo', Allotey Jacobs noted that the government has the option to do the right thing by ensuring that the detainees are repatriated to the United States.
According to him, the government should begin negotiations with the American Ambassador in Ghana and arrange to get the detainees back to the Guantanamo Bay which happens to be the place that the erstwhile Mahama government obtained them from.
Allotey Jacobs cautioned the current administration to stop blaming the previous government for their inability to send the detainees back because they assured Ghanaians they would during their campaign era prior to the 2016 elections.
He wondered why the government would still continue to uphold the decision taken by ex-President John Mahama and his government.
“Do you still continue to ratify that decision or you’ll send the people away? That is what Ghanaians are asking, just simple question", he told host Kwami Sefa Kayi.
“You should start negotiating with the American Ambassador here that we, NPP government in Ghana, are sending them back to Guantanamo Bay; as simple as ABCD. Then we will believe you people that you people always stand by your word”, Allotey further stressed.
