Sunyani (B/A), Feb. 25, GNA - The Sene District Assembly in Brong-Ahafo has suspended Mr Felix Twumasi Appiah, Member of Parliament for Sene from its deliberations for insulting behaviour. A statement signed by Mr E Boanya Mensah, Presiding Member, and made available to the Ghana News Agency in Sunyani on Monday said the MP insulted "the whole House" during the first ordinary meeting of the Assembly two weeks ago and that was enough to prompt his suspension. The statement stated that members were fed up with the MP's uncooperative attitude, as well as his mischievous scheming to bring violence and disorder.

"But we are far ahead of his subtle way and will work hard to maintain the peace that prevails among the chiefs, youth and political parties and the people in the District".

The Assembly expressed its sincerest apology to Nana Abraham Kwadwo Kwakye, Deputy Regional Minister, who is acting as the District Chief Executive, traditional rulers and departmental heads, who all witnessed the unfortunate behaviour of the MP.

The statement said on February 6, this year Mr Appiah was nearly beaten up by angry assembly members, but for the timely intervention of the Deputy Regional Minister.

It alleged that the MP arrived at the Assembly meeting around 1400 hours instead of 1000 hours and was given the opportunity to introduce himself to members.

It was at this juncture that the MP abused his privilege and insulted the House that the deliberations on the layout for towns and villages in the District were not necessary, saying, "If you have the District at heart and have an aim you would not have sat here only to discuss layout of towns and villages. This discussion is trash and nonsense", the statement said. Meanwhile Nana Kwakye has appealed to the assembly members, traditional authorities and departmental heads in the District to continue exercising maximum restraint to help maintain the unity towards the development of the District.
