The only presidential candidate in this year’s Elizabeth Frances Sey Hall Junior Common Room elections, Dennis Kwasi Kumi, also known as KKD, is unhappy with how things are shaping up regarding the forthcoming election.

All electoral processes have come to a halt as the SRC Judicial Board has placed an injunction on the election which was planned to come off on Monday, March, 9.

The Judicial Board of the University of Ghana Students Representative Council has served the Electoral Commission and Legal Advisor of the Elizabeth Sey Junior Common Room with a writ of summons on an appeal case brought to it by the solicitors of Wisdom Ndukwe.

This writ of summons is to enable the Elizabeth Sey JCR legal advisor make an appearance before the board on the hearing of an injunction case and a consequent substantive case on the appeal of the decision made in;

Wisdom Ndukwe v. The Legal Advisor and Two Others [2020] Suit

No. EFSH/01/2020, 4th March 2020, Presided over by Her Ladyship Rachel Ampofo.

Responding to this, Dennis Kumi says that legal battles are making residents of the hall lose interest in the elections.

He wants Wisdom Ndukwe, the plaintiff to accept the ruling of the Hall’s Judicial Board since his late submission of the forms automatically disqualified him from contesting in the election.

“In the CI, the law was clear and the CI was approved by Senate so he should have just accepted the ruling of the Judicial Board and stopped pulling this whole thing because it making people lose interest in the whole electoral process,” KKD told UniverNews.

On the SRC Judicial Board hearing scheduled for Saturday, March 7, KKD is hopeful that the Judicial Board would let justice prevail as is supposed to be.

He believes the Wisdom Ndukwe and his legal team would not gain any sympathy from the Board after undermining the credibility of the Electoral Commission of the Hall.

According to him, the electoral process has been very stressful so he does not “know why we are stretching this whole thing.”

He, however, recounted that the inconsistencies engulfing the electoral process are so sad.
