Mr Seth Adjei Baah, popularly known as Shaba, an aspiring New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for the Okai-Koi North Constituency, has called for calm in the party.

Following the death of Mr Adams Mahama, Upper East Regional Chairman of NPP last week Thursday, after suffering acid attack, some party faithful have been agitating over the issue, leading to some calling for the resignation of the national chairman and his general secretary.

Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Accra, Mr Baah said even though the death of Mr Mahama was shocking and painful, it was important that the party got united in its quest to seek justice.

He said as a party that believed in the rule of law the and tenets of democracy, it was imperative that the judicial process was allowed to work in the matter, in order for the perpetrators to be brought to book.

“A heinous crime has been committed against one of our own and it is very important that we allow the security agencies to work to expose those who committed the crime and make them face the full rigours of law,” he said.

The aspiring parliamentary candidate urged members of the party to let the death of the regional chairman unite rather than divide their ranks.

He said the party should unite and rekindle its quest to clinch to power in 2016, in order to address problems confronting the country.

“Apart from securing justice to the late Mahama, the other honour to be paid in his memory is to win power in 2016 and I will urge all party members to unite and get the victory,” he said.
