The leadership of the main opposition NPP says the decision by a regional chairman aspirant to pay for nomination forms for other aspirants in the Ashanti region will not compromise the forthcoming regional elections.

Bernard Antwi Boasiako popularly known as 'Chairman Wuntumi’ paid about 20,000 Ghana cedis to cover the nomination bill of prospective nominees for regional elections slated for January 25.

There is a mad rush for the forms in the Ashanti region as a result.

The Party’s General Secretary, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie tells XYZ News Chairman Wuntumi’s benevolence won’t influence the elections in any way.

"We are grateful to have such good samaritans supporting the regions and helping pay for these forms.”

He also denied reports of alleged rigging in some aspects of the party’s ongoing elections.

Meanwhile, a women’s organiser Aspirant of the NPP, Mawusi Awiti, says she’s the trump card for winning supporters for the party in the Volta region. As a native of the region, the social and rural worker says she can end the drought of NPP support in the governing NDC’s stronghold.

She said on the XYZ breakfast show that the Volta region needs more recognition at the National executive body of the party.

Mawusi Awiti will be going against current Women organizer Otiko Djaba and current Deputy Tina Mensah.
