The parliamentary candidate-elect for Domebra-Obom Constituency of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sophia Karen Ackuaku has congratulated the leadership of the party and its teaming supporters for exhibiting the spirit of democracy and maturity at the just ended party primaries.
According to her, the party stood tall in allowing fairness and justice in the election which is the hall mark of good governance and democracy by making sure that the electorates will and choice rules at the end.
Speaking to the DAILY HERITAGE in an interview, Madam Ackuaku after the Electoral Commission (EC) officially declared her as NDC parliamentary candidate for Domeabr-Obom constituency for the 2016 parliamentary election said democracy has triumphed once again.
“Let me congratulate the EC for a job well done and keeping alive Ghana’s hope for a brighter democracy,” she stated
She used the occasion to congratulate all NDC faithful in her constituency, most especially, to her opponent; Isaac Awuku Yibor who could not go pass the vetting and outgoing Member of Parliament, Daoud Yemoh Anum.
Madam Ackuaku has therefore pledged her unflinching support and devotion in ensuring an even greater prosperity, growth and development to every inch of the constituency, to build on the legacy and progress of the former MP by bringing the best of Domeabra-Obom to light and ensure the victory of the party come 2016.
“I thank all those who supported me and those who didn’t support me. That is the beauty of democracy. All of us cannot belong to the same camp. To the gallant young men and women, I salute and applaud all of you for making this a fine day in the march towards Ghana’s democracy,” she stated.
She said with the support of Isaac Awuku Yibor and honorable Daoud Yemoh Anum, she will strengthen the party in the constituency and work in unison to retain the seat and consolidate the presidential vote for President John Dramani Mahama.
“Let me again place on record my thanks, particularly to the Domeabra-Obom branch of the NDC, everyone from the constituency executives through to branch executives and volunteers who have all been wonderful and committed. My team, who worked tirelessly with me to actualize this dream, I thank you all,” she reiterated.
She asked the people to team up and work tirelessly to retain the president and by ensuring at least 90% of total votes in Domeabra-Obom constituency in 2016 to seal her one-touch dream.
She called on all party faithful in the area to fashion and work together to retain the seat and increase the presidential vote. “I know we can do it and we must do it together, you did your bid by supporting me to emerge the parliamentary candidate. Now, I shall work for you and your cause by extending and expanding the process of development and growth in this constituency.”
