Presidential candidate of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), Kofi Akpaloo, has said it is ridiculous and outrageous for anyone to suggest that his campaign is being sponsored by the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He has therefore asked all those who have such assertions to sponsor his campaign if they have a problem with the NPP sponsoring his campaign.
Mr. Akpaloo was optimistic that he would win the 2024 presidential elections and no form of perception would change that.
Speaking to Kwabena Agyapong on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, he said, "Such an assertion is an opinion by people, but it does not represent the truth. But what is stopping the person or those with that assertion from sponsoring my campaign? If there are people who have a problem with the NPP sponsoring my campaign, then what is stopping them from sponsoring me so the NPP will stop sponsoring me?"
Such individuals should join my campaign and sponsor me. We need sponsors as a party, so if some want to support me; I welcome them. They can go to the Ashanti and Eastern regions and support my campaign. We need sponsors because the campaign requires money," he stated.
He also refuted claims that he switched his number one on the ballot with the NPP’s number five, describing it as an insult to him, his party, and his respected family.
According to him, he comes from a family of reputable people, and he will not engage in activities that will drag his family name in the mud.
"The Akpaloo family name is synonymous with respect and integrity; I will not engage in actions that might undermine it. As a member, I have a duty to uphold our family’s esteemed reputation. My upbringing stressed the importance of preserving our family’s honor. Following prayer, I obtained a favorable number in the balloting. I am pleased with the outcome. This experience has fostered awareness of my policies, and I anticipate a significant voter turnout in my favour.”
He added, "Picking the number five and the controversy surrounding it has made me more popular. They now know who I am understand my policy and are prepared to vote massively for me and the LPG. The LPG will win the elections hands down," he added.
