Winneba (C/R), March 31, GNA-The Senior Bishop's Deputy of the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church, the Right Reverend Dr Godfred Zormelo,has advised Ghanaians, particularly followers of New Patriotic Party (NPP), and National Democratic Congress(NDC), to stop hauling insults on President John Agyekum Kufuor, and Former President Jerry John Rawlings during phone-in programmes.
Similarly, Rt. Rev. Dr Zormelo humbly appealed to the two distinguished Statesmen to endeavour to accord each other the honour and respect due each other to improve their brotherly relationship.
Addressing members of the Prince Memorial A. M. E. Zion Church at Winneba on Thursday, Rt. Rev. Dr Zormelo also counselled presenters of various FM stations and editors of print media houses to minimize their deep concentration on matters involving President Kufuor and Former President Jerry John Rawlings.
Rather, they should focus more on issues bothering on socio-economic development of the country and the destitute, as well as the mounting acts of indiscipline that had engulfed the nation.
He described some of the comments and remarks made about the two statesmen by contributors of radio phone-in programmes as "extremely distasteful and totally unacceptable", because they did not promote the unity and co-operation the nation needed to improve on its democratic rule and socio-economic development.
The Snr. Bishop's Deputy noted that the situation in which the nation finds itself now required intensive prayers, unity, dedication and hard work to resolve serious economic problems confronting it.
He charged sectional heads of the Church throughout the country to educate their members on both church and national issues to keep them abreast with their civic and spiritual obligations.
