Mr Daniel Bugri Naabu, the Northern Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has cautioned constituency executives to refrain from openly supporting candidates in the up-coming parliamentary primaries of the party.

He said some members have formally petitioned his office concerning other executives declaring their support for some candidates, and that, those petitions have been referred to the appropriate bodies for redress.

A statement issued in Tamale on Monday and signed by Mr Bugri Naabu said it was untrue that he was charging aspirants extra filing fees of GH¢1,000.00 and was also imposing parliamentary candidates in certain constituencies.

“My detractors accused me of asking aspirants to pay that money before I endorse their application forms, this is false. The party executives discussed, agreed and invited aspirants to support the fund raising project for the regional office of the party. The money as discussed was to be paid to the party’s bank account and this information was sent through their respective constituency chairmen”, he said.

Mr Bugri Naabu said all due diligence would be done to ensure that only genuine and committed NPP candidates vied for party positions and that he would go the extra mile in the supreme interest of the party.
