Sekondi, Oct. 18, GNA - The Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church, the Reverend Dr. Robert Aboagye-Mensah said politicians and their followers should stop the "ritual" political blame game. He said this game has become part of the political system since independence.

Rev. Aboagye-Mensah said these at the induction of Rt. Rev. John Harvey-Ewusi, Sekondi Diocesan Bishop of the Methodist Church at Sekondi on Sunday.

He said, the shifting of blame, has retarded the development of the nation and minimized the visions and aspirations of past governments. Rev. Aboagye-Mensah therefore, appealed to politicians and their followers to focus on their policies and visions and avoid destructive utterances of their opponents.

"Such negative utterances have the tendency to create political instability, ethnicity and erode the democratic gains of the country," he added.

Rev. Aboagye-Mensah urged Christians to be mindful about their utterances against people in authority.

He stressed that such negative utterances affects the spiritual, mental, emotional development and their ability to perform.

He advised the newly inducted Bishop to see his appointment as a challenge and endeavour to offer good leadership by making transparency his priority.

Rt. Rev. Harvey-Ewusi expressed his appreciation to the members of the Diocese and the synod for electing him. He pledged to seek the general development of the Diocese and the welfare of its members.
