Accra, Nov. 9, GNA - The Tertiary Educational Institution Network (TEIN) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Tuesday outdoored a Youth Empowerment plan to retain the Party in power in the 2012 general election.

The marshal plan includes Regional mobilization and strengthening of TEIN branches which would lead to the formation of a National TEIN organ for the organisation of nationwide capacity building workshops for members to position them for the full utilisation of TEIN's potentials.

Dr David Sunu, President of the Greater Accra Regional TEIN, called on the National Executives of the Party not only to recognize the campaigning capabilities of TEIN but to tap their intellectual capacity for governance as well.

Speaking at the first in a series of Regional empowerment workshops dubbed: "Resources Untapped: Harnessing the full potential of TEIN," in Accra, Dr Sunu announced the establishment of a TEIN political power bloc.

He lauded the intellectual independence of TEIN, which is the academic guild in the NDC and considered as a strong political force whose contribution leads to the party's electoral victories.

Dr Sunu said TEIN would continue to work for the Party's general interest and for the achievement of the President's "Better Ghana Agenda".

He tasked members to engage in intellectual debate, offer constructive criticisms and accept counter constructive criticism in good faith.

The workshop was attended by representatives from other tertiary institutions across the country.

Topics discussed included the historical antecedents, Core Principles and Values of the NDC, identifying, harnessing and improving the potentials of TEIN and the relevance and place of TEIN in the NDC.

Others were, Empowering the Youth to take their destiny into their own hands, the succession plan - preparing the youth for leadership, and NDC youth participation in governance.
