Talensi DCE poised for business

Mr Christopher Boabil Somiteyen, District Chief Executive for Talensi on Tuesday indicated that he would pursue his assignment on the basis of utmost faith, hard work, dedication and determination to bring the needed development to the District.

According to the DCE, working around these tenets to engage the constituents would provide leads to assess the needs of the people, and draw a preferential scale in tackling the development aspirations and expectations in the District.

The District Chief Executive, who made these pronouncements in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), said he would tackle the revenue generation base of the District by revitalizing all revenue teams to improve on revenue collection.

Mr Somiteyen indicated that while the revenue base of the District was being worked on, it would concurrently be done with special attention to government’s policies and plans, considering the President’s quest to pursue an industrialization drive in the country.

He said the “Food for Jobs Programme, the One District, one factory, the one million seed capital for each district as well as one village one dam policies would come to augment his initiative to facilitate local industries, boost internal trade, improve on economic activities in the District as well as create jobs.

The DCE indicated that in addition to the aforementioned, he would ensure that the Assembly created and provided enabling environment for local businesses to thrive, including developing the tourism industry by ensuring that the Assembly collaborated with stakeholders to attract investors to the tourism industry.

Some of the touristic attractions in the Talensi District included beautiful landscapes, outstanding rock formation, “whistling rocks”, the Tengzuk and other sacred ancestral shrines. The area abounds in gold deposits and has already attracted some investors in the gold business.
