"Talk about issues and not personal attack"- Oguaa Omanhene

Cape Coast, Oct 10, GNA- The Omanhene of Oguaa Traditional Area, Nana Osabaremba Kwesi Attah II, has urged politicians to talk about issues during their campaigns instead of attacking their political opponents to ensure peaceful elections. He said the December elections must not create a barrier between Ghanaians, but rather unite them, to promote the socio-economic advancement of the country.

Nana Kwesi Attah said this, when Dr Mahamadu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) running mate to Nana Akuffo-Addo and his entourage paid a courtesy call on him at Cape Coast, as part of his four day tour to the Central Region. He said the conduction of elections should not divide the nation and bring about a chaotic situation for Ghanaians, but rather it should create a congenial atmosphere for the people to enjoy quality and better life.

Nana Omanhene said" it would be sad to see brothers and sister at loggerheads after the December 7 elections, which would not auger well for the country".

The Omanhene said queenmothers and chiefs in the Oguaa Traditional Area have started educating their people in their various communities to ensure peaceful elections, adding that, "it was the responsibility of every one to see to it that the nation is not plunged into chaos and conflict".

He said the people of Ghana want development and hoped that Ghanaians would vote for a competent and quality leader to rule the nation.

Dr Bawumia said the NPP government under the leadership of President J.A Kufuor had laid a solid economic foundation for the country and asked the people of Central region to vote for Nana Akufo Addo in the December 7, general election for him to continue. He enumerated a number of policies and programmes adopted by the government such as the Capitation Grant, School Feeding Programme, free maternal health care, National Health Insurance Scheme among others. Dr Bawumia urged the people to vote for Nana Akufo Addo for the best economic management and good governance.

He said Ghanaians must retain the NPP in power, since the party had already laid a strong foundation.

Dr Bawumia addressed rallies at Apewosika and Kotokuraba, suburbs in Cape Coast, where Mr Ato Amposah -Dadzie, the NPP parliamentary candidate for Cape Coast was introduced to the electorate. At Ekumfi Ekroful in the Mfantseman East constituency, where he also visited, Dr Bawumia addressed the teeming supporters of the party and told them to vote massively for the NPP. Dr Bawumia, was accompanied by Nana Ato Arthur, Central Regional Minister, Mr Ampofo Twumasi, Deputy Minister of Energy, Mr Stephen Ntim, former first Vice Chairman of NPP, Alhaji Abdulai Kaleem Grusah, CEO of Kumasi King Faisal and the Central Regional Executives of the NPP, led by the Chairman Mr Dankwa Smith.
