....OVER PARLIAMENTARY CANDIDATES

The impasse in the Tamale NPP regarding who should represent the party in the three constituencies of the metropolis for the forthcoming elections is being resolved.

Key stakeholders in the prestigious constituencies started strategy meetings in Accra last Friday. Significantly, the two main protagonists, Alhaji Mustapha Ali Idris, MP, Minister fot Works and Housing and Mr Abdul Samed Haruna Attah, contestant, agreed to mediation without any preconditions.

The NPP intends to capture the three key constituencies of Tamale in the December elections and without serious strategising, the party could lose all three. This sobering reality must have pushed the competitors and their mediators to the negotiation table.

Reports reaching the paper indicated that Alhaji Mustapha Ali Idris and Mr Haruna Attah were eager to meet and ready to make ?serious compromises for the sake of the party?.

This must be music to President Kufuor and Vice President Aliu Mahama, both of whom are said to have been most distressed by the events in Tamale, but did not also want to interfere.
