Tarkwa NDC appeals to President to send fact finding team

Tarkwa, Jan. 21, GNA - Some members of the Tarkwa-Nsuaem National Democratic Congress (NDC) have described as unfortunate negative campaigns being organised by some party members and constituency executives for the removal of Mrs. Christina Kobinah, the Municipal Chief Executive of Tarkwa. This was contained in a statement signed by Mr. Joseph Abban Mensah, Constituency Propaganda Secretary, Hajiah Nawah Rashid Nsoh, Constituency Women's Organiser, Alhaji Dauda Sulemana, a Council of State Member and D= r George Agyei, Former assembly member of the Tarkwa-Nsuaem. They appealed to the President to send a fact-finding mission to the Tarkwa-Nsuaem municipality to ascertain the truth or otherwise of the numerous allegations levelled against the MCE.

The statement said personal differences, disregard for laid down civil service rules and unsubstantiated allegations of giving contracts to New Patriotic Party (NPP) members as some of the reasons cited by some constituency executives for the removal of the MCE from office. "These allegations are baseless, unsubstantiated and it is calculate= d at disrupting the infrastructural development of Tarkwa and its environs,= " it said. The statement said Mrs. Kobinah had demonstrated visionary leadership, administered the municipality through transparency and logic and avoided extremist acts that could have affected the total development of Tarkwa-Nsuaem.

"As a human being, she cannot be perfect and personal problems shoul= d never be confused with constitutional and political responsibilities," it said. The statement said Mrs. Kobinah had worked closely with all party officials and civil servants under her and therefore urged the President to consider carefully the effect of any reshuffle in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipality. "Under the leadership of the MCE, the Tarkwa-Na-Aboso stadium has be= en renovated, while the poor road network is presently under construction," the statement said.
