The Executives of the Techiman North Branch of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) have described as baseless, a petition made to the President by the Techiman NPP to dismiss Alex Kyeremeh, Deputy Minister for Education and MP for Techiman North.

According to the executives, the petition by the NPP with the sole aim of tarnishing the image of the humble and affable deputy minister, lacks merit and basis and flies in the face of common sense.

The NDC Techiman North Executives led by Abubaker Sadiq, Constituency Chairman, were responding to allegations made by the Techiman NPP that the deputy minister masterminded a series of crimes in the area during his tenure as MCE for Techiman and at the same time NDC the Parliamentary candidate for Techiman North.

In an interaction with The Enquirer yesterday, Sadiq said the accusations were a ploy by Philip Oppong the MCE for Techiman, and his NPP collaborators, to paint the deputy minister black and made him appear as a bad person before the right thinking public.

He wondered why the petitioners are not going to the police or court to sue the Deputy Minister if indeed their allegations are true.

The petition appealed to President John Dramani Mahama to remove Alex Kyeremeh, Deputy Minister of Education from office, for peace to prevail at Techiman in the run-up to the 2016 general elections.

It alleged that the Deputy Minister was the brain behind the dousing of one Peter Mensah, the former Techiman North NPP constituency organizer, with acid in the run-up to the 2012 elections which led to the young man losing one eye after going through medical treatment in Germany.

The petitioners also alleged that Mr Kyeremeh paid some people to poison one Paul Ameyaw, a staunch NPP supporter, in his farm and contracted some assailants to beat up the driver of Professor Ameyaw Akumfi to death at Bonya, a village near Techiman.

Another allegation, was that the deputy minister paid some hooligans GH¢5,000 each and bought machetes for them to butcher perceived supporters of the NPP who would try to register their names.

But in response, the NDC Techiman North Chairman said the accusations are not only baseless but also lack the judgment of common sense.

He explained that the allegations made on the deputy minister by one Attipoe, is now before the Accra High Court, where Hon. Alex Kyeremeh has filed a Civil Suit for the truth of the matter to be known.

“It is therefore surprising why the NPP executives have failed in making sure Mr. Attipoe makes formal complaint to the police for further investigations”, he said.

Sadiq said the police commander for Techiman, has even had the course to complain that the MCE for Techiman is preventing him from arresting Mr. Attipoe, for obvious reasons.

“Since the case is before the Accra High Court, we won’t go into the nitty-gritty’s. It is interesting to note that all the allegations made by NPP in their petition are the same allegations made by the MCE for Techiman, Hon. Philip Oppong in a meeting with Techiman Traditional Council.

Sadiq pointed that the executives, are of the firm believe, that the MCE and his friends from the NPP has an agenda against Hon. Alex Kyeremeh, Hon. Agyei Mensah MP for Techiman South and also Hon. Owusu NDC Regional Vice Chairman. He accused the MCE of doing everything possible with his NPP friends to break the front of the NDC in Techiman in particular and the region at large. “We know the truth shall always stand”, he stressed.
