The National Youth Organizer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), George Opare Addo, has clarified that even though the NDC policy is to absorb first-year academic user fees for public universities, technical universities are exempted from the programme.
According to him, in the implementation stage, when there is a need for technical university students to be brought on board, they will be added.
George Opare Addo was speaking on Accra-based Joy FM when he made this clarification.
“Going forward, depending on how it rolls out, I believe along the line, they will all be brought on board. But for now, we are looking at the public universities,” he said.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) announced during its Youth Manifesto launch that it will roll out a No-Fees-Stress Program to alleviate the financial burden on parents and students in financing tertiary education.
Explaining the policy, George Opare Addo indicated that over the years, it has been realized that parents are unable to afford first-year school fees.
The policy has generated several conversations on both social and traditional media.
