Tema, Dec. 10, GNA - Few hours after the Electoral Commission declared President J.A Kufuor as the winner of the 2004 elections, business activities in Tema is moving on smoothly amidst jubilation especially in the Tema Community one central market.
When GNA went round some centres in the Municipality people were seen going about their normal duties whiles some supporters of the New Patriotic Party danced to a loud music placed in the middle of the market.
Dressed in NPP colours with their second and third fingers raised up and shouting the party's slogan "too sure two direct" which it used during its campaign.
At the market however, some party youth were seen carrying a miniature coffin draped with the National Democratic Congress colours intended to bury the party while others were also casting insinuations against the main opposition party.
Those that GNA talked to, who pleaded anonymity, described the whole voting exercise as successful, very free and fair and said it was an improvement over the previous one's that the country has had. We thank God that this elections has ended without any confusion and intimidation as others anticipated and this shows that Ghanaians have really matured in the election process and are, as well, God fearing people, they added.
They however, contended that improper voter education was the cause of the high number of rejected voters and hope next time there would be much education on thump printing and how to fold the ballot paper to avoid future occurrences.
Whiles some had the view that the voting day should be declared a national holiday to allow those who vote far away from their work place do so without having any problem with their bosses, others think it is not necessary because the national calendar is already loaded with holidays.
