Press Release
The NDC National Youth Forum wishes to express our sincere appreciation to the call by the leadership of His Excellencies President John Evans Fiifi Atta Mills and Former President, Jerry John Rawlings for Peace and Unity to prevail within the NDC.
Not only was the call timely but it should be welcome by members of the NDC. This should also serve as a reminder that whatever the differences there is the need for forgiveness and reconciliation.
The NDC Youth Forum does acknowledge that events in the NDC are not only peculiar to the party but to all the other political parties in the country.
In order for the NDC to objectively promote peace and unity there is the need for meaningful dialogue and consultation with major stakeholders, namely the financiers, foot soldiers/cadres, sections of the party who feel marginalised across the entire country and most importantly our founder and his spouse.
The good book advices us to go back to people we have wronged or we have differences with to reconcile before making our supplication known to our Maker. It further tells us that it is sweet for brothers to duel together in peace and unity.
We wish to advice the political assassins within the party to be mindful, to show self restrained and be circumspect in whatever they do or say, if they want to foster friendship and brotherliness under the umbrella family and not hatred.
The NDC is not about President Mills, former President Rawlings, Vice-President John Mahama, Kwabena Adjei, or Johnson Asiedu Nketiah. The question members should be asking is what would happen to the NDC if God should call these noble leaders home? But God forbid.
The NDC Youth Forum wish to state that the NDC’s ability to espouse it philosophy and ideals in a manner that would better the living standards of Ghanaians should be the ultimate goal of the party.
The success of the NDC government would be measured and judged by the level of happiness among the rank and file and Ghanaians across the length and breadth of the country come 2012. This is the single most important election index for Ghanaians to vote for NDC.
We are therefore appealing to the Council of elders to endeavour to assist the leadership of the party to ensure the restoration of peace, hope, love, confidence, unity, equity, self respect and mutual trust in the party’s at all levels in the country.
Now is the time for the leadership to do some self introspection in order to resolve the differences within the party, if the NDC want to survive the turbulence ahead.
NDC------UNITY
NDC------STABILITY
NDC------DEVELOPMENT.
