The NPP Government will deliver - Dery

Hamile (UW), March 24, GNA - Mr Ambrose Dery Upper West Regional Minister has stated that the government would not engage itself in vain promises, but would rather strive to solve the problems of every community. "It is pointless and of course politically unwise to deceive people who you will seek their mandate in the next four years," he added.

Mr. Dery was addressing the chiefs and people of Hamile in the Jirapa/Lambussie after inspecting a water-pumping transformer mounted in the town. He said a lot of politicians flopped badly in elections because of empty promises. "Ghanaians do not have confidence in the words of politicians, because of the past bad politicking they had experienced in their communities". Mr. Dery said as modern politicians, people should not promise the electorate things that they could not provide. "One thing we must note is that every Ghanaian has a fundamental human right to enjoy his or her share of the national cake and should not therefore lose that share because they did not vote for the government of the day".

The Regional Minister said just like any other town, the people of Hamile had the right to ask for improvement in their lives and so the provision of the transformer to improve on their water distribution was not a ploy to ask for their votes. "However, we shall be grateful to you if you recognise our assistance by returning us into power come 2008". One of the leaders of the town, Alhaji Yahaya commended the Regional Minister for responding promptly to their request for a water-pumping transformer. "We have never seen a Minister who listens and responds to the plight of the suffering people like you" Alhaji Seidu Yahaya added.
