The youth must see politics as a privileged platform to debate ideas and serve people – Deputy TESCON Coordinator

A deputy coordinator of TESCON, Rosemond Obeng has encouraged the youth not to shy away from politics and also eschew the perception of politics as an avenue for corrupt and unprincipled persons.

Rosemond Obeng, who is popularly known as “People’s Mother”, speaking at this year’s “ENQUIRY AGENCY CAREER FAIR” under the theme, “ACCELERATION OF GREATNESS”, revealed that she made it a point to get into politics to correct some of these misguided notions and hence encouraged the youth to get into politics with correct motives.

In a world where young people see the field of politics as an avenue for corrupt and unprincipled persons, it is almost a crucial emergency that we reached out to our young ones, especially for the people who have gone through the ups and downs of the political system and climbed some rungs in their political career despite the overwhelming odds, and help them to re-invent their notions to see politics as a privileged platform to debate ideas and serve people in the genuineness of intentions.

For me, as a starter in politics, it is why when I was invited to speak at the annual ENQUIRY AGENCY CAREER FAIR 2019 at La Villa Boutique Hotel situated in Osu with the theme “ACCELERATION OF GREATNESS” ,I made it a point to correct some of these misguided notions and encouraged the young people who made it there to enter into politics with correct motives, per the little experiences I have gathered over the period and the lessons I had learnt from some of the big names in politics.

I shared the platform with (Dr.Zenator Agyeman Rawlings(MP,Klottey Korle), Hon Fritz Baffour(Former Minister of Information), *Joseph Amartey(Tourism Ambassador for Ghana), Hon Kabrah Blay-Amihere(Diplomat) among other seasoned speakers who took their turns in sessions addressing other diverse careers…We all shared our experiences and challenges to the audience and spread some hope on our Ghanaian political space to the audience.

I equally shared my story, both personal and political, the challenges I faced when growing up and the challenges I had to overcome each and every day of my political journey, especially as a young woman and a learner in politics.

It was such a great platform and I encourage the organizers of the program to keep on giving such platforms to young people to meet up, learn and share experiences.
