An independent presidential aspirant, Richard Sumah, has said he'll establish a 24-hour call centre at the presidency when he becomes President of the republic.
According to him, the current government structure does not permit citizens to reach out to the president directly, however, his government will allow citizens, communities, organisations, or groups of people to reach his office at any given time through a toll-free number.
He explained that the structure is to allow Ghanaians to share their ideas and other relevant information in the interest of the country with the office of the president.
Richard said the idea will allow communities "in need of social amenities, these basic things, water and sanitation, school blocks and whatever to reach us" instead of appealing through the office of regional ministers or MMDAs.
He said, "The ones that the assemblies will take care of too are there for them to deal with. It's not everything that the presidency will do, the assemblies are there, but my concern is bringing the presidency closer to the people and not what we're experiencing."
Richard mentioned this during a meeting held with some local trade unions in the Ho Municipality of the Volta region on Sunday, June 16, 2024.
The meeting was held to share his idea with the people and also take words from the people.
Richard Sumah, a marketing consultant and music promoter emphasised that "I don't have the financial capacity to run the traditional campaign, but I have the ideas that will transform Ghana" adding that, it is a divine call to become President of Ghana.
He also said the monetisation of politics in the country will lead "Ghana to nowhere, we'll continue to be in this mess and the corrupt will continue to enrich themselves."
The "Flame of New Awakening" is the name of his mission.
