Former Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho, has criticised the party's flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, over his recent response to the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

John Dramani Mahama clapped back at Vice President Bawumia for ‘running away from the economy’ again in a recent exchange of questions. Quoting a line from the Bill Clinton campaign, Mahama said, “It’s about the economy, stupid!”

Mahama's comments come after Bawumia posed 50 questions to him, following Mahama's initial five questions on the economy.

In a passionate response, Mahama likened Bawumia's response to someone who just learned nursery rhymes and stated that the Vice President's questions were irrelevant to the pressing economic concerns of Ghanaians.

However, responding to Mahama in a social media post on October 30, 2024, Koku Anyidoho stated that Mahama quoting an insult doesn’t make him right.

According to him, he has fallen off the cliff. “JM has finally fallen off the cliff. I now understand why almost all chiefs, and religious/traditional leaders are all over Bawumia and praising him for his attributes of decency, humility, civility, incorruptibility, and non-use of filthy abusive language. Desperation at play!” he said.

He added, “He has been Vice President before yet shamelessly insults the sitting Vice President in public. Certainly, this is NOT the level Bawumia was to descend to. I now understand what level he is talking about & Ghanaians want to ascend to a more illuminating level.

“Today is 30th October and it seems like since the 1st of October when some prophecy was made upon his life, things have moved from bad to worse oooo!!! Hmmm!!

“Just because someone used the phrase 'it is about the economy, stupid'; you also copy & say it without thinking of the cultural differences? Certainly, Ghana wants to ascend above this low level of copying blindly. Actually, he is the one who has copied ‘nursery rhymes’ blindly. Sad!”
