Veteran journalist, Kwesi Pratt Jnr, has asserted that the 2024 general election has exposed the true nature of some persons deemed to be men of God in the country.

Speaking during a panel discussion on Metro TV's Good Morning Ghana on Monday, December 16, 2024, Pratt Jnr said that the election has shown that some of these so-called pastors are nothing but criminals.

According to him, these pastors are criminals who are only interested in making money out of the election and urged Ghanaians to stay away from them.

“Something else has become very, very clear, which is that many of the people who pretend that they are body-bodies with God and that God calls them on the telephone every morning and so on, are also absolute criminals, gangsters and so on. Election results have shown that very clearly. All these gangsters in cassocks and with horse tails and so on, they're just useless bloody gangsters, criminals, trying to profit from elections and so on.

“And this election has exposed them big time. I'm hoping that we will learn lessons and begin to put soothsayers where they actually belong. They're nothing but soothsayers, you understand? And those who go to them for medical reasons, for reasons of prosperity and so on, they should begin to think again,” he said.

He added, “The elections have clearly demonstrated that these are just bloody criminals who cannot predict anything. One of them actually said before the elections that if Dr. Bawumia doesn't win the election, she will go back to worshipping her fetish idol. I'm waiting to see.”

In the run-up to the 2024 general elections, a number of pastors said that it had been revealed to them that the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) was going to win both the parliamentary and presidential elections.

However, the NPP suffered a humiliating defeat in the election instead.

The party did not only lose the presidential election to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) by over 1.6 million votes but it also lost more than 50 of its seats in the Parliament of Ghana to the NDC.
