As the 2024 elections draw closer, parliamentary candidates are pulling out all the stops to win the hearts of voters.

The race is heating up, and some candidates are employing unique and personal strategies to stand out from the crowd.

In a surprising twist to traditional campaigning, three candidates have recently made headlines with their hands-on approach to engaging with constituents:

Pius Opoku (NDC, Tano North): The NDC parliamentary candidate for Tano North, Pius Opoku, has been captured grinding okro for a constituent in preparation for okro stew. Opoku has been praised for his down-to-earth approach. The footage of him happily preparing the stew has resonated with many, with some promising him their votes in response.

Baba Sadiq (NDC, Okaikoi Central): Another NDC candidate, Baba Sadiq, has taken a different approach by pounding fufu for a constituent. In a viral photo, Sadiq is seen in casual attire, firmly holding a pestle and pounding fufu.

Mike Oquaye Jnr. (NPP, Dome-Kwabenya): The NPP candidate for Dome-Kwabenya, Mike Oquaye Jnr., has adopted what some are calling an innovative campaign strategy. In a widely circulated video, Oquaye Jnr. is shown washing clothes for his constituents, bending over a bowl of water while onlookers cheer him on.

These acts of service have sparked conversations about the lengths politicians will go to earn voters' support.
