Three women contestants in Jomoro District Assembly Elections

Half Assini (W/R), Dec. 11, GNA - Only three women are among the 89 candidates who have filed their nominations to contest the 34 seats of the Jomoro District Assembly in the forthcoming elections, Mr Kwabena Asante, Jomoro District Electoral Officer has said. Speaking to the Ghana News Agency in an interview at Half Assini at the weekend, Mr Asante mentioned the women contestants as Ms Victoria Nyanzu, a teacher and contestant for New Kabenlazuazo, Ms Cecelia Blay, a teacher from Bonyere-Ackahsuazo and Ms Victoria Ocran, a trader and aspirant for Beyin Electoral Area. He said under the new demarcation programme, four electoral areas had been created, namely Anwiafotu, Sowudzadzim, Ellenda and Elubo East. Mr Asante said the Anwiafotu Electoral Area was carved from Nuba while Sowudzadzim was created from Mpataba, adding that Elubo East and Ellenda were carved out of the Elubo and Tikobo No.1 areas. According to him, the mounting of platforms by candidates will start from December 16, and end on December 24, adding the election will take place on December 28, 2010. 11 Dec. 10
