Thumb-print correctly to avoid rejection of ballot paper - Deaconess

Kasoa, Nov. 11, GNA - Madam Sophia Rita Monney, Deaconess of the Apostolic Church, Ghana, has urged Ghanaian women to make the forthcoming general elections more productive by ensuring that they thumb printed correctly on the ballot papers to avoid rejection by the Electoral Commission.

She said they should not thumb print on pictures of aspirants who were their choice or outside the spaces provided on the ballot paper because that would render their paper null and void and their efforts would be in vain. Deaconess Monney of the Kpormeitey branch of the Church in Kasoa was addressing women drawn from the Kasoa East District Zone Two of the church on Monday.

She said the only way to show their patriotism was to go by the rules of the elections, adding that because of the importance attached to the general elections they should conduct themselves well. Deaconess Monney said the headquarters of the church wanted every member who had attained the voting age and had registered to exercise his or her franchise. She said they should all comply with the directive that no one should go to the polling station in party colours or campaign during voting because it was not legal to do. She said as mothers they should advise their sons and daughters who were not eligible voters against attempting to vote. 11 Nov. 08
