Twelve to contest Effutu and Awutu-Senya seats

Senya Beraku (C/R) Oct. 25, GNA - Twelve candidates have filed their nominations to contest the Effutu and Awutu-Senya seats in the Awutu-Effutu-Senya District of the Central Region in Election 2004. Mr Frank Nunoo; Awutu-Effutu-Senya District Electoral Officer; told the Ghana News Agency in an interview at Senya Beraku that at the close of nomination on Thursday, six persons had filed their nomination at each of the two constituencies.

He said those in the Effutu Constituency were: Mr Samuel Owusu Agyei, 61, Public Servant, contesting on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP); Mr Mike Allen Hammah, 49, the incumbent of the National Democratic Party (NDC) and Mr Sunu-Nuquaye Stephen, 50, Teacher, for the Convention People's Party (CPP).

Madam Adeline Dennis, 60, Self-Employed, is on the ticket of the great Consolidated People's Party (GCPP), while Mr Isaac Arthur Aidoo, 51, Insurance Salesman, and Mr Frank Ebow Sam, 53, Marketing Consultant, are both going as independent candidates, he said.

In the Awutu-Senya Constituency the fight is among Mr Oliver Mensah Tetteh, 45, Construction Technician for the Peoples' National Convention (PNC); Mr Oppey Abbey, 59, Mechanical Engineer, NPP and Mr Moses Arhinful Acquah, 41, Computer Programmer, NDC; the Electoral Officer said.

Mr Nunoo said that Mr Stephen Kobena Quaye, 48, an Administrator is for the CPP; Madam Charlotte Pobee, 30 Ticketing and Reservation Officer, for Every Ghanaian Living Every Where (EGLE) and Mr David Nana Larbi 54, Lawyer, is an Independent Candidate.
