UCF-Ghana cautions “let my vote count alliance” on their threats

Tue, 22 Mar 2016 Source: UCF-Ghana

PRESS RELEASE

The Tema Regional Branch of the United Cadres Front of Ghana (UCF-GHANA), has read with disappointment the one week ultimatum given the Electoral Commission (EC) by the Let My Vote Count Alliance (LMVCA) to come out with a programme to validate the Voters Register or face their ralph. This, to us is a rather confrontational approach which will not auger well for the peace this country is enjoying.

We find it extremely difficult to fathom the motive behind the behaviour of the LMVCA, because ever-since it came into form all they do is to threaten state authority.

However, the Tema Regional Branch of the UCF-GHANA wish to state that the LMVCA thread cautiously in order to maintain the PEACE Ghanaians are enjoying. It is the only way by which we can stand out as proud citizens of a great country.

Coming to the substance of their threat, the UCF-GHANA wish to find out from the LMVCA people whether they made contact with the EC as to how it is working things out regards their concerns? Did they also make contact with their mother organization, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to find out what is happening at the IPAC level? We want to believe they did before coming out.

But if they failed in doing the above, then we are forced to take their threats as efforts towards the gradual derailment of this country which will be effectively resisted through legitimate means.

We have been silent and allowed such groupings to have their way - not because we lack the capacity to organize in equal measure to demonstrate, but we feel constructive engagement is the way to go now.

By this statement, the UCF-GHANA, makes it emphatic, that the LMVCA is not representative of the entirety of Ghanaians and should cease carrying itself as the mouth-peace of the Ghanaian citizenry as it seeks to portray. They should also desist from tagging others who have also been guaranteed by the very constitution that grants them the right to demonstrate, as "thugs" else all demonstrators are "THUGS" including themselves.

The above notwithstanding, the Tema Regional Branch of UCF-GHANA wish to add our voice to calls for the EC to be forth-coming with whatever programmes it is putting in place to validate the Voters Register to forestall the unnecessary threats that are coming its way.

Just as the EC has come out with a programme line-up of Election 2016, it is desirous of the citizenry to know what steps are being taken to raise the credibility of the register and the EC ought to come out.

It is our humble position that no room is created for a shredding political party and its surrogates who know they have already lost the coming elections to use the Voters Register as excuse to foment trouble in this country. CLEAN IT AND LET'S GO TO THE POLLS IN 2016! WE SHALL BEAT THEM CONVINSINGLY!

Let My Vote Count Alliance (LMVCA), Let Us Keep This Country In Perfect Peace (LUKTCIPP)

Signed
