Upper East NDC elect Regional Executives

The Upper East Regional branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Thursday elected its Regional Executives, Alhaji Bonaba Mumuni retained his position as the Regional Chairman. He polled 104 votes to beat his contestant, Alhaji Osman Akasum Alem who got 64 votes.

For the position of the Vice Chairmanship, Mr Abubakari Atongo Salifu got 119 votes to emerge the winner. His other contestants, Madam Veronica Lamisi Seidu, Mr Akanyele Nsorbuno Williams and Mr Issah Seidu Bogobiri got 83, 76 and 46 votes respectively.

Mr Akamugre Donatus retained his position as the Regional Secretary with 112 votes, whilst his competitors Mr Sabia Martin Dittor, polled 25 votes, Mr Awusi Nicholas 22 votes and Mr Agambire Paul one vote.

In the case of the Deputy Secretary, Mr Abiola polled 90 votes to beat his opponent Mr Paul Danka who got 78 votes.

The Treasurer position went to Alhaji Issah Mumuni who secured 59 votes to beat his opponents Mrs Adagewine Fidela with 53 votes, Madam Fatima Dinko 38 votes and Mr Japheth Akolgo Tanko 15 votes.

Mr Atanga Gilbert emerged as the deputy treasurer with 110 votes, while the other contestant, Mr Mahama Ken Kazar got 58 votes.

Mr Baba Kumasi emerged as the Regional Organiser with 111 votes, whilst his opponents Mr Ibrahim Mutawakilu and Mr Akachawon Stephen polled 44 and 10 votes respectively.

The position of the Deputy Regional Organiser went to Mr Issaka Haruna with 110 votes, whilst his opponents Mr John Assibi Nyaaba and Mr Adatara Francis got 49 and 8 votes respectively.

Mr Bernard Boayerik Bougzor got the Regional Propaganda Secretary position with 76 votes, whilst his contestants Alhaji Sa-eed Ahmed Tijani and Mr Rockson Batamne Bukari polled 59 and 32 votes respectively.

Mr Anyiam Kenkeni Aloysius got the Deputy Secretary position with 119, whilst Mr Dinko Evans secured 20 votes, Alhaji Labaran Zakari Kassimu 14 and Mr Awande Atingbane John 12 votes.

Madam Faustina Abagre was elected unopposed as the Regional Women’s Organizer, whilst Madam Agnes Akwulpwa became her deputy.

Among the electorate who participated in the voting exercise were some Members of Parliament from the 13 constituencies in the Region as well as Municipal and District Chief Executives.

The Upper Regional Minister, Mr James Tiiga, impressed upon the contestants to bury their differences and work towards the party’s victory in the next Presidential and Parliamentary elections.
