Bolgatanga, Oct. 7, GNA - There has been a general low turn out of eligible voters to check out their names and particulars at the on-going voters' exhibition centres in Bolgatanga.
Most of the exhibition centres GNA visited had no voters in queues and exhibition officials were sitting idle. At Akantome Junior High School, 23 voters checked their names on Sunday, 36 on Monday and as at 1000 hours on Tuesday, seven voters had checked their names and particulars.
About 76 voters out of the 248 registered voters had checked their names and particulars. Twenty-three voters were reported dead and relatives signed or thumb printed on the names of the deceased for certification.
At the English Arabic School centre, 19 voters checked their names on Sunday, 10 on Monday and five at 1030 hours on Tuesday making it 34 out of the 298 voters in the register.
At the Nyariga electoral area, the exhibition official had not reported even though GNA was informed he reported on Sunday and Monday. At Bukere exhibition centre with 109 registered voters, 11 of them checked on Sunday, 12 on Monday and five on Tuesday as at 1045 hours. At the Upper East Regional House of Chiefs centre, four voters checked on Sunday, 12 on Monday and six as at 1100 hours on Tuesday making a total of 29 out of 504 registered voters.
At the Tanzui/Zobisi centre with 729 registered voters, 35 had so far checked their particulars by 1145 hours on Tuesday and two of them reported that their registered relatives had died. Most of the exhibition officials attributed the low turn out to inadequate publicity and most of the voters were not taking the exercise serious.
Some of the eligible voters complained of lost ID cards and were referred to offices of the Electoral Commission. 07 Oct. 08
