As part of National Democratic Congress’ better Ghana agenda, a policy vision that seeks to bring development to the people of Ghana, the people of Upper West Akim District have received two projects commissioned over the weekend by the District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Derek Ohene Assifo.

The project that consist of a six-classroom block, office with store and ancillary facilities at Asuotwene for the Presby Primary School, and a twenty shed market for the people of Asuaba to help uplift the educational standard in the area and to as well help ease the pressure on their existing market and create more space for the market women to go about their daily duties with ease.

Addressing the people, the DCE articulated that the NDC government’s objective, in creating the new district in 2012, was to help them develop the country in a faster rate than before.

Stating further that, “as DCE, I am working very hard with my team to help propagate and make tangible the president’s developmental agenda to my people”.

The DCE, Hon. Derek Ohene Assifo, reaffirmed the Presidents’ efforts towards bringing developmental projects to his district by mentioning landmark projects by the John Mahama led administration, such as the groundbreaking of the first presidential community day senior high school at Kwaobaa-Nyanoah, the construction of district assembly complex and many intervention programmes.

According to him, the various ongoing and completed projects in the district is a manifestation of his desire to bring development to the people of Upper West Akyem District.

He added that the district will, again, receive two more projects which he hopes to commission in the month of February.

Taken his turn to address his people, the chief of Asuotwene, Barima Kwabena Oduro I, commended the DCE for his astuteness and his quick response towards addressing the development and infrastructure deficits of the newly created district.

The chief also pledged his support to, collectively, assist in whatever way to facilitate the bringing of development objectives and projects to his district and the nation as a whole.
