Use pestles to chase away any miscreant who comes to pick ballot boxes on election day - Movement of Change member

A member of the Movement for Change, Solomon Owusu, has made a bold call to action, urging Ghanaians to use pestles to protect ballot boxes from being snatched on election day.
Speaking on the Alhaji and Alhaji show on August 17, Owusu emphasised that it is lawful to act against a crime being committed, particularly in the context of election security.
He rejected calls for peace pacts that lack enforcement, insisting that existing laws should be applied rigorously to individuals committing crimes under the guise of political activity.
He invoked the Vigilantism and Related Offences Act, stating that it is lawful for citizens to prevent an offense, including using force if necessary.
"If you are in your community on election day, and these miscreants come under the National Security to take the ballot box, chase them with a pestle—that is what the law says, and all of us will be alright," Owusu declared.
He was speaking at the back of NDC's stance on the peace pact. The NDC chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah has expressed scepticism over the effectiveness of peace declarations, maintaining his party was not going to be a part of such declarations this year.
“Signing a peace declaration doesn’t mean anything to the party, as previous pacts have not yielded any real results,” the National Chairman of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, said in an interview with Joy News.
