Verifiable records at the University of Ghana, Legon indicate that Vice-President
Amissah-Arthur obtained his Masters in Economic there in 1986. Available records in
parliament also show that he stated in his CV to the august House before being
vetted for the position of Vice-President that he obtained his Masters in Economics
in 1986.
These verifiable facts put paid to attempts by NPP apparatchiks to cling onto a
typographical error by the managers of the Ghana Government website who stated on it
(the website) that he obtained his Masters in Economics in 1976.
Unable to explain why NPP flag-bearer, Nana Akufo-Addo, did not state on his CV the
fact that he attended Oxford University in England, Kwabena Agyapong, a former
Presidential Spokesperson (in the NPP Administration) claimed that Vice-President
Amissah-Arthur lied by putting information on government website that he graduated
with Masters in Economics from the University of Ghana in 1976. According to him,
the Vice-President’s name is not even in the list of those who obtained a Masters in
Economics that year.
Yesterday, reeling from pressure being mounted by Felix Kwakye Ofosu of the NDC on
Akufo Akufo to explain why he failed to mention on his CV that he attended Oxford
University in 1962, one of her many amorphous pseudo—NPP groups, Young Patriots,
decided that Kwabena Agyapong’s allegations against the Vice-President should be
their lifeline to saving their party’s flag-bearer from being exposed.
At a press conference therefore, the group claimed that Vice-President Amissah
Arthur never obtained a Masters in Economics from the University of Ghana in 1980 as
he claims. Neither is his name in the year group of those who obtained Masters in
Economics.
It is evident that these desperate apparatchiks of the NPP are only firing blanks at
the Vice-President. Firstly, he obtained his Masters in Economics from the
University of Ghana in 1986.
Secondly, the Vice-President stated in his CV to parliament before he was vetted
that he obtained his Masters in Science from Legon in 1986.
Thirdly, the 1976 given on the Ghana Government website as the year he obtained his
Masters is a typographical error by the website managers.
Fourthly, Vice President Amissah-Arthur cannot be held responsible for what is
posted on the Ghana government website even if it is about him since he is not the
one who manages it nor posts stories there. Indeed, the Attorney-General’s website
still claims (the last time this paper checked) that EOCO is headed by Mr. Cudjoe.
This can neither be the fault of the Attorney-General nor Mr. Cudjoe, the former
boss of EOCO.
The NPP clearly has fired blanks at the Vice-President. Having failed in their
attempt to equate the Veep’s CV to that of Nana Akufo-Addo, they still need to tell
Ghanaians why Akufo-Addo did not state on his CV that he attended Oxford University.
Secondly, Ghanaians are itching to know why he left this prestigious university
unceremoniously.
