Veep Calls for Enhanced Participation in Voter Registration Exercise

The Vice President of Ghana Kwesi Amissah Arthur has called for enhanced patronage in the ongoing registration exercise to do so, in order to ensure full participation in elections.

Speaking to Press men in Takoradi, after he had visited some of the registration centre’s ,Vice President Kwesi Amissah Arthur,said the ongoing registration exercise is very important for the country , so the need for continuous education to sensitise the people who do not have their names to do so.because full participation in elections makes it more credible.

Vice President Kwesi Amissah Arthur, said he was there to acquaint himself with the ongoing Electoral Commission voter registration exercise that has began to enable persons who could not register during the last exercise and those who turned 18 years after 2012 to do register and also interact with the registration officers and people who had come to register.

Vice President Kwesi Amissah Arthur, said he was impressed with the process so far, although it had just started but hoped that more Ghanaians who have attained the age of registration and had not done so would do s.

Some of the registration centre’s that the Vice President Kwesi Amissah Arthur ,visited were Nkontompo AME Zion registration centre , Methodist SHS registration centre , CHC electoral area and Ekuasi Electoral area in the Esikadu in the Sekondi Metropolis. The exercise has started in 6,000 centres across the country, ending on Wednesday August 13, 2014. The Vice President was accompanied by the Western Regional Minister Paul Evans Aidoo MP and his deputy. Alfred Ekow Gyan and the Metropolitan Chief Executive of Seckondi, Captain Cujoe.
