Vice-president tours part of Brong Ahafo Region

Menji (B/A), Nov. 2 GNA - The Chiefs and people of Menji, near Nsawkaw in the Brong Ahafo Region, have appealed to the Government to upgrade the Agriculture Senior Secondary School in the community into a model academic facility to enhance teaching and learning.

Nana Iddrisu Lamin, Chief of Menji, who made the appeal in speech read on his behalf, during a visit of the Vice President Alhaji Aliu Mahama on Monday to the newly created Tain District, said the School established in 1993 had 156 students.

The Vice President is on a four-day official visit to some selected towns in the Region.

Nana Lamin appealed to the Government to tar the Nsawkaw - Sampa trunk road and ensure the completion of the Bui Hydroelectric Project.

The people at Debibi appealed to the Government to upgrade the local Health Centre into a hospital and complete an ongoing housing project for the staff.

At Brodi the Chief, Nana Shie Boffour 11, appealed for the construction of a feeder road from Wansase - Pokukrom - Donkrokrom - Kumorkrom to Brodi to facilitate the carting of foodstuffs to the marketing centres.

They also asked for a Police Station to ensure security in the area.

Vice President Mahama advised the people in the area to send their children to school since education was the bedrock of the nation's development.

At Sampa, Alhaji Mahama said the Government was negotiating for a loan of 140 million dollars to improve on telecommunication facilities. Alhaji Mahama paid a courtesy call on the ailing Nana Kofi Sono Omanhene of Sampa Traditional Area, to wish him a speedy recovery.
