Mr. Victor Smith, Eastern Regional Minister, has noted that the under-development of Abuakwa North Constituency was due to bad leadership.

The Minister, who is also the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Aspirant for Abuakwa North appealed to the people to vote him into Parliament on December 7, to enable him bring development to the area.

Mr. Smith made the observation when he launched his campaign for the 2012 Parliamentary Election, at Akyem Tafo at the weekend.

The Minister received a rousing welcome from supporters, friends and family members when he arrived at the rally grounds.

Mr. Smith appealed to the people "to avoid partisan politics and bring on board somebody who can help in the development of the area."

He promised to ensure the construction of the Kukurantumi – Asafo road, an Information Communication Technology (ICT) centre and the rehabilitation of the New Tafo market among others, if voted for as Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North.

Mr. Smith said the NDC Government was committed to formulating good policies and programmes to enhance the welfare of Ghanaians .

The parliamentary aspirant appealed to Ghanaians to renew the mandate of President John Evans Atta Mills in Election 2012 for the continuation of the “Better Ghana Agenda”.

Mr. Anthony Jampoh, NDC Regional Secretary, appealed to the electorate to vote for an aspirant who could develop the constituency and not for a relative who would not be able to bring development to the area.

He asked NDC supporters to engage in house-to- house campaign to educate people on the achievements of President Mills under his “Better Ghana Agenda”.

Also in attendance at the launch was Deputy Minister of Tourism, Mr. Baba Jamal Ahmed, National Women’s Organizer, Ms Anita Desoso and Mr. Samuel Nuamah Donkor, former NDC Ashanti Regional Minister .**
